Our First Angry Comment!!!!!

It was bound to happen, and I’m so glad it did.

Recently I came across a newly-minted bike polo mallet maker called Malletheadz. I wrote up the post and most of us agreed that the site had some flaws (not listing weights, weird pre-drilling, nearly no information).

One fellow came to the defense, Jerry, and said he had a great experience with the company. Being who I am (and noticing the striking resemblance of language patterns to an email I received from the company), I doubted his sincerity.

He’s responded (which I approved), but shortly afterwards I received this little gem of a comment:

Hello!my name is Maritza Martines, I am a sports writer for a local sports magazine here in Brazil,.My editor and chief just gave me your web site if you call it that and I am appalled at the way that you handle yourself in The USA.First off. I have been reading your blog that you call a web site and that you got for free. You go around bashing people that you do not even know, you have no idea who the company is and you sound like a bunch off cry babies. You hide behind you stupid names like, horse, crusher, trace, and irishvelo. If you people were man enough, why don’t you contact those people on the phone and talk to them and ask the .question that you are curious about.

Down here is South America, we do not talk negatively or bash people as you do in the USA.We do not hide behind phony names.Be a man or are just a bunch of lazy babies trying to get a free bike polo mallet from the Mallet headz company. Why don’t you buy one of their products???.

By the way, I am also a free lance writer for the local newspaper here in Brazil. I will be following your blog to see how you answer this.We have checked out there web site and it looks pretty decent, could use a little tweeking but is good and gets to the point.I notice that they are also listed on Google.

Yo Crusher,as you say in the USA, we have heard of this company down here in Brazil,We understand that the parent company is behind them and all item that make up the mallet are hand tooled and not factory machine made.Like I said earlier, I am going to be watching your blogsite and write a article about Lancaster United how they think that they are a bunch of bullies
Lets hope that your moderator has the backbone to publish this on your blogsite.

She didn’t include a picture, but I like to imagine that she has a wicked angry face on.

So let’s break down her comment as a group, shall we?

Hello!my name is Maritza Martines, I am a sports writer for a local sports magazine here in Brazil,. (Two points here: a sports writer would have caught the comma and period punctuation mistake – secondly, I did a quick search of her IP and came up with Buford, Georgia). My editor and chief (which would be capitalized) just gave me your web site if you call it that (that hurts, Ms. Martines) and I am appalled at the way that you handle yourself in The USA. (while we are awesome, the t in the isn’t capitalized)First off.(should be a comma instead of a period) I have been reading your blog that you call a web site and that you got for free. (That hurts. First off, I paid hard earned money for this site, can’t you tell by ALL THE BUTTONS?!) You go around bashing people that you do not even know (Untrue – I only bash people who post as Latin American Sportswriters),you have no idea who the company is (with a website like that, how could I know anything about them? and you sound like a bunch off cry babies. (ok – you’re right on that one)You hide behind you stupid names like, horse (pretty dumb),crusher (very dumb),trace (sorry Trace – she thinks your name is so dumb that it’s made up), and irishvelo (I’m sure he feels good that he was included) (You forgot Ted).If you people were man enough (You know my wife?), why don’t you contact those people on the phone and talk to them (’cause I get the feeling I am right now) and ask the .question that you are curious about (do you dress up when you write comments like this?).

Down here is South America (read: Buford, Georgia), we do not talk negatively or bash people as you do in the USA (but you do produce the most oranges in the world – fun fact!).We do not hide behind phony names (sorry again Trace) Be a man or are just a bunch of lazy babies trying to get a free bike polo mallet from the Mallet headz company.(SHE SEES RIGHT THROUGH USSS) Why don’t you buy one of their products???. ( I can’t trust a company that writes as a Brazilian sports writer and uses 3 question marks)

By the way, I am also a free lance writer for the local newspaper here in Brazil (five bucks to the first person that finds her name listed as contributing writer in any newspaper in Brazil. I’d do it myself, but I’m a lazy crybaby). I will be following your blog to see how you answer this. (finally! sweet, sweet readership) We have checked out there (their, not there) web site and it looks pretty decent, could use a little tweeking (“tweeking” is very much an American colloquialism, which is going to make it tricky for you to say you had so many grammatical errors because English isn’t your first language) but is good and gets to the point (clarify what the point is, please?).I notice that they are also listed on Google (unlike you).

Yo Crusher,as you say in the USA (do you mean to imply that we say “Yo Crusher” in the USA? I’m that popular?), we have heard of this company down here in Brazil,We understand that the parent company is behind them and all item that make up the mallet are hand tooled and not factory machine made (See, this is where you really give yourself away. A freelance writer would never pitch the product like this without kickback. So either you’re not who you say you are (how could it be!?) or you’ve been bribed).Like I said earlier, I am going to be watching your blogsite and write a article about Lancaster United how they think that they are a bunch of bullies (WE WILL BE FAMOUS IN BRAZIL!)
Lets hope that your moderator has the backbone to publish this on your blogsite. (Oh yes, he wouldn’t miss this chance for anything)

Fondly, (any love is good love)

I love this post for so many reasons. Firstly, because your commentary is spot-on. Secondly, because it reinforces the stereotypes I have about people from Buford, Georgia.

Not only the post but the entire blog. Keep doing the good job. Having the liberty to say what we like and what we don’t is all we have. And help keeping high standards.
